Heading Eastward To Asheville -- Here We Come! -- June 4, 2011

The following five blog postings cover our little two week trip June 4th through June 17th, 2011.

On Saturday we took off in the Mercedes for North Carolina expecting to arrive on Sunday June 5th.  What a happy day that was for the Pops and Nans.   It was good to see our grandchildren who are growing so fast.   And good to see Sommer who was working on her blog.

The evening meal was to include a spicy grilled corn which was seasoned with lime and hot paprika.

There was a lot of catching up to do.  We had not see our grandchildren since last fall.
So Pops was showing off his new funny face app on his IPhone.

Papa had brought a special project for him and Carson.  It was to make a yard bench for Mommie Sommer.

And we went shopping for new BIGGER scooters to take to the beach with us.
Our plans were to leave for Sunset Beach on Wednesday where Daddy Dan was working.  So while Mommie was getting all her church and blog responsibilities up to date.  Carson,  Ava and I went to the neighborhood pool.
It was a beautiful pool down the hill and on the property there were mulberry trees.

So after swimming for a while, we picked mulberries from the trees, took them home so Mommie could make a mulberry pie for us at the beach tomorrow.
We had to keep ourselves very busy while we waited for Wednesday morning.
While Mommie worked and worked to get everything ready.
Ava and Carson entertained themselves on Nana's Notebook.
Ava had just recently begun running two miles on the treadmill to get herself in shape to run with her Daddy on the beach.

And Kona was needing lots of love, attention and grooming before we left town.

And the gardens needed pruning, weeding and watering before we left town.
Sommer tore out so must of the Butterfly bushes that I cringed....but she said they were taking over so it had to be done.
Finally, Wednesday arrived and we were off toward Sunset Beach, North Carolina.
I believe I may have to make the foot shot my signature road trip icon.   It is what I do when the drive gets long.
