Arriving in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, June 8, 2011

On Wednesday, June 8th, we drove about five hours to the beach.  We found the Resort were Dan was working and were invited to stay in the Model home where he as a salesman was living.  It was a lovely location built on the inner coastal marsh area.  Our home was on the second floor, overlooking a swimming pool and the inner-coastal waterways.  We stayed there eight days and when we left, Sommer and the kids stayed a few more days.
There was a constant flow of boats on the canal.
Birds and other creatures were plentiful.  Dan boasted a 'selling' feature of the property to be no mosquitoes -- no bug because of the wind and salt water ways.
We walked and 'scootered' the walkways over the marsh out to the dock.

The back side facing the coast line.

Finally, the Collier family is together again.  Even though Dan has to work, he will take a couple days to do fun things with us.
And while Daddy Dan works, we found other things to do.   There was a work out room below our 'home' so we took advantage of it several times.
That Sommer really knows how to work up a sweat.  Some serious Momma!
An if definitely is a family project.
Sommer cooked some mighty fine meals for us while we were there.  It was suppose to be her vacaton also so we ate out several time.
The children kept themselves busy with games and toys. We played UNO a lot and Monopoly.   Here they are coloring some art work for the refrigerator.
Ava's Art Work
Carson's Art Work.
And Ava wrote some stories.  You can read one here
And on hot afternoons we had some rest times.  Carson and Pops favorite was story telling.

We had lots of fun times in the pool.

And here is the traditional vacation-self-pose off the balcony that we take of ourselves everywhere we go.
Each Evening, the moon looked like this.
Then on Thursday morning, after eight wonderful days at the beach, we packed up and started out on our two-day trip back home.  Over 1200 miles so we had books on tape and other things to keep us alert.

More self shots simply from boredom.

And my final signature foot shot when there is nothing else to do.
Now, this is not the end of the story, there are three more blogs to follow that cover the times at the beach, the fauna and floral and our special trip to Bald Head Island.   So keep reading by clicking Older Post below on the right.
