Ken is experiencing a renewed interest in fly fishing as he remembers it with his father when he was a young lad. His fond memories are his Dad as an expert fisherman when they took their yearly trips to Colorado. For Ken's Birthday, Kevin and April gave him gift cards to the Bass Pro Shop, so he purchased a new fishing rod and some flies. He went on line and found a little one-room log cabin in the woods in Beavers Bend. Reservations were for a two night trip beginning April 28, 2010. And here we are that first evening, WHISPERING WOODS, an adorable tiny log cabin in the woods all by our selves

. The cabin was cozy and clean. The best part was the surrounding woods with a creek running behind. Both front and back porches offered quiet lovely views of Gods's creation. The birds were chirping, the brook was rippling, and there was a fire pit with dry wood and a comfortable swing. Being the middle of the week and early in the season, there were no people around. Ken had not been feeling well for a couple weeks, so he had gotten some antibiotics on Monday and insisted he was feeling much better and wanted to go. However, he was still having trouble eating and since starting the medicine, was having a lot of nausea. We sat on the swing and admired the quietness and beauty that first evening. He had a Muscle Milk to drink and thought his stomach was some better. So I prepared chicken breasts, potatoes and carrots. He ate very little. This park was a 4 1/2 hour drive from home so we were tired and went to bed fairly early. Here I will talk some more about the cabin, which was decorated with Indian culture and art. The fireplace was cozy but we had forgotten to bring a couple logs, so we just enjoyed the possibility of a pretend romantic fire. Stepping out on the back porch was a little table and chairs which overlooked the small creek, bridge, woods and the swing. But the greater challenge was yet to come, because it was not a good night for Ken.....upchucking all night long. He is such a positive good natured sport so kept saying he was feeling better. We were determined to enjoy our outing and just rest in God's beautiful creation.
