Westward HO - Las Vegas Nevada -- August 7 - 10, 2011

I have never visited Hoover Dam, so we had thought that would be one of the things we would do on our way to Las Vegas.  We did not realize that a guided tour would have helped a lot and that it is quiet a visitor center.  So we arrived late in the afternooon and just drove through it and took photos.  That was about it..... And so amazing that this was all built out in the desolate location back in the 1930s before Ken and I were even born..

Our little trip to Las Vegas was an "add on" after we had planned our trip to Sedona to baby-sit  Blakely and Sydney.  We accepted an offer for a four-day visit in our time-share in exchange to listening to the 90 minute sells pitch to upgrade to Tahiti Village in Las Vegas.  We have set through so many of those that there is no temptation to buy so we thought 'why not ... we've never been to the Club De Solei since we bought there 10 years ago and thought it might be the only time, so we took the four day offer.

Strange that they put us up in the older facility that is going through bankruptcy if they wanted us to buy at Tahiti Village. Nevertheless, the Club De Solei condo we were in was upgraded and seemed very spacious and nice after the tiny studio we stayed in in Sedona. We are not much into gambling. Mostly we had planned to eat a couple good meals and see a show and walk a bit of the strip. uus up in the older facility if they wanted us to buy. The upgrade price was a special just for us of $28,000. And their bottom price just for us was $10,000. No temptation here -- crazy, I always feel sorry for the saleman who does a good job but just got us for potential customers

We did see a show and have dinner afterwards.  The show was LAS VEGAS ... The Show and we enjoyed it very much.  It was a less expensive show but showed Las Vegas for the early years showing the first talents who sung on the strip.  We had a lot of fun and it was good for us to remember the older generation who we watched on television.    After the show we went to Lombardi's for a great Italian dinner.

The all you can eat buffet at HARRAHS.  You can see what the "ALL I CAN EAT WAS"
AND ALL KEN  COULD EAT WAS.......................   MEAT

Ceasers Palace

On Wednesday, we decided we had done everything we really wanted to do in Las Vegas.  So we packed up our bags and headed back on the highway -- this time Eastward.
We were headed home by way of Albuqurque.
