Tunis was without a doubt the warmest welcome we received from any country. While the ship was tendering in and we were having breakfast, the Tunisians were playing music for us and marching along with the ship until we were fully docked. It was a great experience.
And the photo is taken through the windows.
The Tunisian Republic (since 1957) is Africa's northernmost country, situated on the Mediterranean. Tunis is the capital city of Tunisia. Tunis is a city of labyrinth alleys and covered passages and the hills are sprinkles with palaces, mosques, mausoleums, gardens and fountains. This country has been conquered by Berber, Phoenicia, Rome, Arab , Turky and France. It was the Phoenicians who settled Carthage and used it as a trading base. Next were the Romans, then the Byzantines who were then replace by Muslim Arabs. The Muslims are definitely a very liberal group. We found a few ruins placed about, however, after the war ruins had not been preserved. Our tour here took us to Sidi Bou Said and Carthage.
